Healey stated; "I have to confess that I regarded it as my greatest ever win".

"It was for me an unforgettable occasion; my greatest ambition had been to win the Monte, and I can’t describe my joy. I telephoned my wife to come out for the celebrations. Having no passport, she approached the Home Secretary direct, who had a special passport issued because of the British success, and she came out to join in the fun and visit the palace for the prize presentation by Prince Rainier."

Oversized wheels were fitted to provide adequate ground clearance.
